Vision

The Problem:

The lack of good leadership in the life of a young man has major implications. One of the primary areas in which a man needs to be led, is by his father. Unfortunately fathers don't always succeed in this duty, or are not physically present. If you look at the extremity of homes without this leadership figure, the statistics are alarming and the effects thereof run rampant in our society today.

Although the stats below look at 'the fatherless' alone, the lack of good leadership (even with fathers present) in the home environment has a massive impact on youth and in order to see young men become who they were created to be, we need to partner together in raising the next generation.

Solution:

Lighthouses are what we call the small contact mentorship groups that service a specific organisation or school. These are facilitated by Mentors who are trained to work through a specific curriculum with the young men in weekly sessions. Lighthouses aim to address core foundations, values and create accountability amongst the young men. Adventure is used as a tool to break cultural and racial barriers, and bring forward what lies in the heart of every man.

The goal is to culture young leaders, who hold each other accountable, and who step into our society with a solid identity, and grow up to lead well, in their homes, work and play. To be real men.

A lighthouse is established as follows:

1. Organisations / schools sign up

2. At least 5 Mentors sign up for that organisation

3. Each Lighthouse needs funding for resources, administration and screening processes. Our current target per lighthouse is R20'000. Which translates to R800 per boys mentorship per year

*Once all 3 targets are met, mentor training for that Lighthouse can commence.

According to www.southafrica.net, South Africa has 45 Lighthouses along the coast.

Our goal is to establish 45 mentorship Lighthouses by 2025.

There are a number of other organisations that currently focus on mentoring and our aim is to connect people with these organisations.

We also aim to provide resources for those looking for the tools in equipping and raising young men. You can find the resources here
